Industrial Design Registration
An Industrial Design is the ornamental aspect of a useful article. To be eligible for the protection in Sri Lanka the Industrial Design must be original or novel and registered at the National Intellectual Property Office. Protection of an Industrial Design means that it may not be copied or imitated without the Registered owners consent.
Patent Registration
A Patent is the grant of a property right from the government to the inventor. A Patent provides its owner the right to exclude others from making, using, importing, offering for sale, or selling the invention throughout Sri Lanka.
Trade & Service Mark Registration
A Trade Mark is a word, phrase, symbol or design, or combination thereof, which identifies and distinguishes the source of the goods or services of one party from those of others.
A Service Mark is closely related, to a trade Mark and serves to identify and distinguish the sources of services rather than products.
Copyright
Copyright is a legal concept, giving the creator of an original workexclusive rights to it, usually for a limited time. Generally, it is “the right to copy”, but also gives the copyright holder the right to be credited for the ork, to determine who may adapt the work to other forms, who may perform the work, who may financially benefit from it, and other related rights.
